Well, the truth is, he didn't listen to them - he walked in, shouted "That horn is TOO SMALL!!!"

Everyone there kind of looked funny at him. After a moment or two, I replied, "Maybe so, but they sure SOUND good!", and everyone who had been there listening mumbled in agreement.

He then went off in a huff.

The deal is that both the II's AND the III's sound VERY good, and that, to me, is the criteria - natural sound reproduction without coloration and, most especially, listener fatigue.

The sad thing is Dr. Geddes was the one who recommended me to the AES's board as a potential speaker for their convention in New York City (which they accepted) in...was it REALLY way back in 1992?

I don't doubt that for a second and would be happy to own either one. But then everything has room for improvement and Geddes' approach makes a lot of sense to me, well, the technical part of it at least ..

But regarding the OP's question this is irrelevant anyway, as it all circles around directivity control and on-axis vs. off-axid frequency/power response and not the cabinet.

I'm sure the Stonehenge is a fine cabinet, but personally I'd go with a large TML or then smallish closed with one or even better multiple subwoofers.

Well, that's what my sons thought at the show (along with a few others), until they heard it!

A couple years ago, I built two Stonehenge V's, based on dimensions I gleaned from the earlier version of this Forum. Used 3/4" furniture grade, red oak and 1.5", internal bracing with 2x4's and 2x2's and plywood, with firm polyester batting for sound damping. After installing two 604's from GPA, I enjoyed the sound immensely. Last year, I built two smaller cabs to house University duplexes that are used in conjunction with the 604's. Besides the usual hookups: HDTV, SACD, DVD, CD player, tape, LP, it's hooked up to a Rodgers, Allegiant 678 digital organ. The amplifier is a Yamaha RX-V611 7.1 system. Not tube amp but very nice. After adding a powered subwoofer, it's an awesome sound, especially with the organ.
